Blood Bowl Konquata Monitors Coach: Lord Kroak

August 17, 2013

Lord Kroak, last of the First Generation of Slaan personally commissioned the creation of the Konquata Monitors Blood Bowl team after the Lizardmen re-conquered the mystical island of Albion (called Konquata by the Lizardmen) from the Dark Elves.  To promote the superiority of the Lizardmen race, Kroak ordered the team be composed of members of the first spawnings from the newly formed spawning pools on Albion.  Unwaveringly loyal to Kroak’s vision, the Monitors have become the hottest new team in Blood Bowl.  Kroak himself has recently taken up the mantle of Coach, personally leading the Monitors from the sidelines.  Eschewing his customary floating chair and gold death mask for a simple cap, Kroak is prepared to help the Monitors win to bring glory to the Lizardmen.  Of course, his incredibly powerful magics would never be used during a match.  That is, unless the inducement was right…

Blood Bowl Grimfang Scrappaz Goblins!

Thanks to paint night at Game Links in Fowlerville, I have put paint to models for the first time since the move!  I helped some people paint, watched some games of Magic the Gathering, and talked about Blood Bowl.

Above, see the four Goblin models I built for the Scrappaz.  On the back of their base is the Orc rune for Goblin/Grot and an Ork numeral.  I had to give them a rune and numeral because Orks can’t count higher than five!

Next: More Scrappaz!

New Place, New Possibilities

Hi all three of you loyal readers!  You may have noticed that I haven’t updated in months.  I got a new job in the district where I had my old job, and I moved.  BUT now that I’m all alone, I can focus on modeling to a greater degree, so without further ado, here’s a list of my current projects:

-The Antonius Project: Thanks to Lexington’s generous gift at Gen Con, I now have a Lugft Huron body and two Tyberos arms from Forge World.  I’m going to make a version of Antonius to be the new Chapter Master of the Azure Flames.  Perhaps there will be a story tie in.

-Dark Eldar Fleet: Currently stinking up my new apartment with carcinogens is my assembled and primed Dark Eldar fleet for Gothic.  Paint scheme will be: white primer -> Ice Blue undercoat -> Turquoise Ink -> 25/75 Turquoise/Ice Blue drybrush -> Boltgun metal blades with a chainmail edging -> Purple lights details with 50/50 pink/purple hughlight, -> purple engines with watered down White wash.  Should look just like the fighter counters I downloaded.  Thanks to whoever Hoja is.  Click below to see.

-Blood Bowl Completion: While I have a fully painted team (Konquata Monitors) and another unpainted (Grimfang Scrappaz) I am missing a few key components such as apothecaries, Bloodweiser Babes, Coaches, Cheerleaders, etc.  I bought enough skinks and goblins at Gen Con to fill out the ranks and finish the accoutrements for both teams.  Additionally, I have to re-do a special character for the Monitors due to him actualy being a skink, not a saurus.

That’s a lot to do!  Expect the Gothic stuff soon, and mini-updates for Blood Bowl.

These Black Orc Blockers were made from Black Reach Nobs and bits from the Nobs box.

Next: Troll!  I’ve ordered Ripper Bolgrot, the special character Troll.  I’ll add some plates and other metal bitz to make him fit in with the Scrappaz.  Then they’ll be ready for play!

Grimfang Scrappaz – Throwers!

Two throwers from the new Orc team, the Grimfang Scrappaz!  These Orcs grew up in the ruins of the Mount Silverspear Dwarven mine.  This reeking hole is the ground was “appropriated” by the warlord Grimfang, and has been the staging ground for the Silver Road wars.  Enriched by the residual silver, and with a trove of ruined Dwarven equipment, the (bored) lads of Mount Grimfang put together a Blood Bowl team for excitement and glory!  The Scrappaz coat themselves with sharp iron plates salvaged from the mining equipment, and often with added spikes.  They have but one goal: SMASH OTHER TEAMS FOR FUN!

The start of something… Orky.

I’ve been wanting to start a 2nd Blood Bowl team so that I can show people how to play.  Been putting it off.  Then I was pawing through my Ork bitz, and found enough parts to make some Blood Bowl Goblins.  All are from 40K Grot bits, the rightmost is the body with no arms, and a head from the Lootas box.  The middle one is a body from the Warbikers box, normally hanging off a pole, with the feet re-positioned.  The last uses a regular Grot with the feet bent so that he is bending forward as if ready to fly!

…now I need a name for the team.

Lansing Blood Bowl League

October 4, 2011

I have not had the pleasure of playing Blood Bowl for a while, as gas has been expensive and Lansing is far away.  Now, however, I have a new job that takes me near Lansing anyway, so it’s the perfect excuse to get some Blood Bowl!  Without further ado, here’s some of the Major Players in the Lansing Blood Bowl League.

First up is James, coach of Chaos United.  James’ team is done in a Dipping style (see my posts about dipping here and here).  The dark shading of the dip looks great on Chaos.  James used plastic Gors and Chaos Warriors.  The Minotaur is a non-GW mini which looks fantastic, and even survived a two story fall!

Phil (who declined to be photographed due to CIA involvement, presumably) routinely brings his beautifully painted Darkland Warriors, a Dark Elf team.

Alex here has gone all out, invoking Warhammer Fantasy backstory and bringing back the Dogs of War in style.  Vespero’s Vendetta, with none other than Vespero himself present (the archinve model!  SQUEE!) are an experienced, tough Human team.

Finally, Eric counters the every move of my team with his own, more experienced Lizardmen, the Thunder Lizards.  Sadly without Dee Snyder, Savage Steve Holland, or bee-grenades, this team will still make you say: “When does the hurting stop?”

And now, the Konquata Monitors face off against Vespero’s Vendetta!  Will they triumph?

No.  Vespero 2/0.  Oh darn.  At least none of my guys got hurt or killed.
