Update: Battlefleet Gothic Image Gallery
Good news everyone! I resized all of the hideously big pictures in the Battlefleet Gothic gallery. Sadly this doesn’t fix all previous posts, but it makes the gallery pics load in a reasonable amount of time. Expect the same treatment for the other galleries soon!
Edit: Blood Bowl is now browser friendly too! As well as Necromunda!
Blood Bowl Down Kroxigor Marker
In Blood Bowl, most teams get one large model. (Ogres get three) It’s a huge pain whenever this model gets knocked over, because they are so much taller than other models. It’s even worse for my Kroxigor, as he doesn’t like to lie on his back
Solution: a marker that replaces the Kroxigor when he’s knocked down. The Blood Bowl Kroxigor comes with 2 pewter heads. I puttied the head I didn’t use to a normal base, and painted it with the same scheme as the Kroxigor. Now keeping track of the Kroxigor is easy.
As a bonus, last game my Kroxigor levelled up for the 2nd time, and now knows Block AND Guard! Huzzah!
Blood Bowl Tactica: Team Types
There are a huge variety of teams that all have different tactics in Blood Bowl. However, it usually comes down to three general categories: Beaty Teams, Balanced Teams, and Finesse Teams.
Beaty Teams (Chaos, Lizardmen, etc.) Have high armor values and strength on their main linemen. They tend not to have many skills standard. Their journeymen have a gimmick that makes the team more than a bunch of walking beat sticks. For example, Chaos Beastmen have Horns, making them great on a Blitz. Beaty Teams need to hit the enemy hard and team up to get two or three die blocks. Keep pressure on until you break armor. Open up avenues for journeymen to score touchdowns.
Balanced teams tend to have average stats an armor, backed up with one major skill per player, such as the human lineman who has Block. Balanced teams need to work together to set up passes and protect the ball carrier. Occasionally they can team up and hit an enemy hard, but they usually can’t go toe-to-toe with a Beaty team.
Finesse teams have great Agility but low Armor and Strength. They also tend to have specialists that fulfill roles. Finesse teams need to end up at least one square away from the enemy so that they can only hit one of them a turn. They also excel at running and passing, so they need to score points. Don’t underestimate them; they can move fast and team up to smash an unwary opponent.
Essentially, each team has to play to its strengths. My Konquata Monitors need to go to the pitch and beat up the enemy, while they make avenues for the skinks to run the ball. They are fast for a beaty team, but lack of skills makes me rely on re-rolls to do anything more complex than smacking the enemy.
Konquata Monitors Cheerleaders and finished team!
DONE! Perhaps I’ll set up an image gallery in the Features section.
Cheerleader pom poms are from a craft store, superglued on after painting.
Now all I need is a pitch and a second team!
Lottabottol, Star Player for the Konquata Monitors
Lottabottol, like Quetzal Leap, was glued to his stand after varnishing.
Next: four more Skinks! I don’t actually NEED more. Perhaps I’ll buy some pom-pons at the hobby store and make them Cheerleaders.
Quetzal Leap and Sillibilli, Star Players for the Konquata Monitors
…and here they are! Quetzal Leap’s flying stand was glued after he and his base were painted and varnished. One to go, then four more skinks, then BLOOD BOWL IS DONE!
When things go Wrong
Recently I had to strip 3/4 of my Blood Bowl Star Players. I tried a new painting technique and it didn’t look good.
I’m painting Quetzal Leap right now, but on his left hand the Pine Sol damaged the integrity of the putty. Two fingers broke and I lost the tips. So I had to re-sculpt them. Currently allowing them to cure.
It seems that Pine Sol can make putty more brittle.
This isn’t the first screw up, but that’s the best part of this hobby. When you screw up you can easily fix it or start over.
Hemlock, Lizardmen Star Player for the Konquata Monitors
…and here’s Hemlock! I used him in my first Blood Bowl game. He tried to stab an enemy Skink, and then got tackled and injured. Dammit
The paint scheme is different from the Konquata Monitors because the Star Players were not born on Albion!
Konquata Monitors Kroxigor and Journeymen Skinks
The Kroxigor is number 1 (it’s as high as he can count!) The journeymen don’t have proper numbers, they haven’t earned them yet!
Next: Star Players! They will feature non-Konquata skin tones, as they were not born on Konquata (Albion), so I’m going to experiment with other various colors such as red, blue, true green and orange.
Konquata Monitors Saurus Warriors
Saurus Warriors!
Next: more Skinks for Journeymen, and then Kroxigor!
