Gargatok Gitsmasha only knew about the Warp from his ancestral memory. It was deadly, demon-fings lived there, and you needed it to go fast enough to get to other planets. So, when he decided to flee the Altean system with what remained of his fleet, he had no idea where to go.

Then something took hold of him.

Somehow, in a way beyond his understanding, he began to work at the controls of his Kill Kroozer, knocking other lads out of the way. He shivered and felt hot, but somehow didn’t mind. Through what seemed like instinct, but didn’t feel like it, Gargatok Gitsmasha relayed a warp transit corridor to the Ork fleet and ordered them to jump.

The transit took years. Ork ships weren’t efficient warp travelers in the best of times; that was why they usually hitched a ride on Space Hulks. The voyage was punctuated by several raids on humie worlds for food and other supplies. But they were driven onward. Jump after jump, until they reached their destination.

The Namiera system.

Upon arrival, Gargatok’s vessel was hailed by a veritable Orkish armada. As the screen went live, another Ork appeared.

Around his neck was a chain sporting a gleaming black jewel.

Gargatok barely registered the Ork’s words, but something about that jewel… Gargatok would do anything for someone who held it…
